Midwest Bio-Systems introduces PT-170 fourteen foot compost turner

April 27, 2007—Tampico, IL

Midwest Bio-Systems recently introduced the PT-170 fourteen foot compost turner this month. The PT-170 is a specialized tool for creating high quality compost in large operations. The PT-170, a pull-type compost turner, has an integrated water system that allows for the efficient delivery of water to every particle in the compost pile. The system’s drum, tine, and drive are carefully designed to gently toss compost rather than pulverize it as many compost turners do. The resulting compost is finely textured, humified compost that is in high demand by gardeners, landscapers, golf course managers, and farmers.

The PT-170 is designed for maximum efficiency and rugged durability. This turner has a greater width than most similar turners which gives the PT-170 up to forty per cent greater space efficiency than its competitors. This efficiency also comes with a higher production capacity. The PT-170 is constructed with extra heavy gage steel to allow for maximum durability. Each of the drum’s bearings are 3” heavy duty bearings and double tapered to allow for problem free, heavy use. There are no welding attachments to the round shaft giving it dependability not found in welded designs.

The PT-170 is carefully crafted to create the greatest operational usefulness and ease. A hydraulic lift allows the turner drum to be vertically removed from the compost windrow. The PT-170 also has a 3D leveling system that allows for extremely easy operation.

Safety is always a concern when operating heavy machinery and the PT-170 has a trouble free safety override system. Instead of the traditional shear pin the PT-170 has a slip clutch that keeps both the operator and machine safe, but doesn’t require any maintenance after it is triggered.

The PT-170 is a machine designed to fit the needs of anyone interested in turning waste products from stubble to manure into a profitable business. Midwest Bio-Systems provides extensive training and support to those beginning with composting to teach them how to properly use the PT-170 or any of MBS’s other turners for the best profits.

Midwest Bio-Systems (MBS), located in Tampico, IL, provides its Advanced Composting Systems to customers around the world. MBS is involved in every aspect of the composting business—building equipment, developing new technologies, consulting, and performing soil application research.
